Reading in Health and Social Care Series
These resources have been successfully used in sixth form colleges and care homes to improve skills of learners and employees
This series has been developed to support individuals either working in or wanting to work in the Health and Social Care sector. The books are designed to develop English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in the context of Health and Social Care. All tasks are industry related and are mapped to Functional Skills level 1 and 2, the tasks themselves are also related to the National Occupational Standards of the Health and Social Care industry.
The Reading in the Health and Social Care Series is designed to meet the needs of those:
- Undertaking an NVQ, Certificate or Diploma in Health or Social Care
- Undertaking Functional Skills qualifications
- Employees working in the N.H.S, supported living sector, social care sector who want to brush up their English skills
- English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners who want to pursue a career in the Health and Social Care industry.
The Trainer Handbooks are designed to support organisations who wish to deliver their own training in house.
They provide trainer notes with suggestions on how to use the materials with learners. It also includes the resources needed to deliver the sessions with learners. The English skills developed are at a G.C.S.E standard and are also mapped to level 1 and 2 Functional Skills Standards. The Learner Workbooks are designed so that learners can complete the tasks independently or as part of a group.
